The Diet Solution
So I would like to start out this brief article discussing some of my subscribers' favorite button to push. And that button would be, the "report spam" button, of course!

Now, for those of The Diet Solution you that use double opt-in for your email marketing, you probably understand my frustration. Each time I send an email to people, giving them the exact information that they asked for, without even trying to sell them on any products, I usually will get at least one spam complaint. I am actually pretty frustrated with one of my double opt-in lists right now because I am getting slightly more than the acceptable .1% complaint rate for email marketing. Now, of course with other lists that I have, I am well below the .1% acceptable rate. But the whole reason I am sharing this with you is to point out something very important: people like to "report spam." And I admit that if I think someone is spamming one of my accounts, I am really fast to click on the "report spam" button as well.

So what does this have to do with marketing to the diet solution Groups? Well, in my opinion, many people see the diet solution Groups as a good way to do marketing, and many people do succeed. But there is a larger group of people who end up getting kicked out of many groups on the diet solution Groups because they are trying to generate free traffic to their websites by placing "ads." And when people see anything that looks like you are trying to get free traffic, then they are really fast to accuse you as being a spammer. And in today's online world, being labeled as a spammer can really hurt your reputation, even if you technically weren't spamming at all.

Now, I myself have considered using the diet solution Groups for some serious free traffic generation, but after learning from others and doing a bit of investigating, I think I'll leave the diet solution Groups for the spammers. Also, almost all of the groups on the diet solution nowadays make you go through a membership process before you can become part of the group, and almost all of them have an anti-spam policy. And for the rest of the groups that are labeled as public? Well, those are the groups that are most likely to get spammed, making those groups not as desirable to join.

Now, from what I have learned, there still is one "correct" way that you can do some really great marketing on the diet solution Groups, but in my opinion it seems a bit difficult. The answer is: start your own group. If you start your OWN group on the diet solution, then you are actually allowed to "spam" your own group as much as you want. But this is because it is your own group. You see, starting your own group is almost like having your own subscribers list. So if you have some really great content to share with the world, then you can have some great success building your own groups.

Once you have a group with a large number of members, more and more people will want to become part of that group because logically they will think that it is a good group because so many have joined. But then, after all of your work has paid off, you will have your own set of problems. Yes, the spammers will be coming after your group that you worked so hard to build! So, is marketing with the diet solution Groups going to be worth your time? Well, that will have to be answered on a case-by-case scenario. As for me, I focus on the free traffic generation methods that don't involve worrying about spammers or you being called a spammer.
